La Torre sulla Via Francigena, is a Luxury Organic Farm Stay (Agriturismo) in the heart of Tuscany, with uniquely designed rooms inspired by the animals of Tuscany.  Just 2kms outside of the thermal spa town of Gambassi, on the path of the Via Francigena . Nestled, very privately in the rolling hills, we are also less than 1 hour drive to all the major Tuscan cities: Florence, Pisa & Siena. Here’s how to get there:

From the airport:

Whilst we recommend you have a car for your time in Tuscany, the venue has a private transport service available for airport pick up / drop for those who will stay there.

By car:

From Firenze
 

Take the FI-PI-LI highway toward Pisa.

Exit at Empoli Ovest and follow signs to Castelfiorentino, then Gambassi Terme.

From Gambassi, follow signs to Santa Maria a Chianni (~2 km).

La Torre is along the Via Francigena trail, clearly marked.

From Pisa:
 

Take the FI-PI-LI highway toward Florence.

Exit at Pontedera or Empoli, and follow signs to Castelfiorentino → Gambassi Terme.

From Gambassi, drive ~2 km toward Santa Maria a Chianni.

Look for signs for La Torre sulla Via Francigena.

ACCOMODATION
 
To make planning your trip a little easier, we’ve selected a few recommended accommodations for our destination wedding weekend, offering something for every taste and style. We are arranging transport for guests to and from their accommodation on the wedding day.


We are working with a wonderful travel agent, Daniela, who can secure some discounts or perks during your stay if you make your booking through her. Her email is daniela.chavezmolina@fora.travel

Tenuta Sant'Ilario

An exclusive holiday farm, a real corner of paradise located in Gambassi Terme, along the historic Via Francigena.

Albergo Il Castello

A boutique hotel in the heart of Certaldo, all the rooms are located on the first floor of the Castle and from the windows you can enjoy a wide view of Certaldo, San Gimignano and the beautiful Tuscan hills. The rooms are all equipped with air conditioning, television, free wi-fi, mini fridge and all the services for a relaxing stay. 

Castelfafi

Our venue has an amazing range of activities available for you during your time there. You can do so directly with our wonderful hosts Angus and Scott via email:

Cooking Class

120 per person, maximum 6 per group. 3 hours approx with free flow prosecco.  

 

Wine Tasting

Off site at a winery around 12 mins drive from La Torre  

55 euro includes 9 wines, and lunch together with oil and vinegar tasting .

Just wine tasting is 25 per person. 

 

Truffle hunt 

The price does vary a lot based on truffle price.  From €100 - 150 per person.  1-2 hour truffle hunt then a truffle lunch on site at La Torre.  3 course lunch with wine, with each course designed with truffle. (Maximum 15 people)

 

Horse Riding

with our next door neighbour farm.  €80 per person for 1 hour or 100 for 2 hours.  

 

Organic Bee Experience with the La Torre Bee Keeper 

We give a presentation at the beginning to help understand why bees are so important to us at La Torre, it’s actually fascinating.  Then we dress you up in bee keeper suits and take you to our bees where we open the hives, look for the queen bee, and taste the honey direct from the hive.  
Afterwards we do honey tasting of 8-9 different local honeys - €65 per person.
Minimum 4, maximum 8 person per session.  

 

1/2 day trip to San Gimignano or Volterra

Visit the iconic hill town known for its medieval towers, charming streets, and stunning views — perfect for wandering, shopping, and tasting local Vernaccia wine. Stroll through historic sites like Parco della Rocca and Palazzo Comunale, Pinacoteca, Torre Grossa - San Gimignano Musei for panoramic views and culture. La Torre sulla via Francigena. Price variable. Depends if a tour guide is required or not.

Wine & Olive Oil Tasting or E-Bike Tours

Golfing at Castelfalfi Golf Club

Play a round amidst rolling hills, olive groves and stunning Tuscan scenery at Castelfalfi Golf Club, one of the region’s premier courses with both 18‑hole and 9‑hole options just ~20 min drive from La Torre.

Nature & Trail Walking at Sentierelsa

For a more relaxed outdoor experience, Sentierelsa Trail offers beautiful walking trails along the river near Colle di Val d’Elsa — ideal for a peaceful morning or picnic.

 

Discover Historic Sites in San Miniato

Stop in San Miniato to see the Tower of Federico II for incredible views, and consider a visit to Truffle in Tuscany for a truffle tasting or culinary experience (especially fun in autumn). visittuscany.com

 

Visit Volterra’s Historic Center and Museums

The ancient town of Volterra is worth a day trip — explore the Museo Etrusco Mario Guarnacci and wander through atmospheric streets full of history, artisan shops, and panoramic views.
